The Chien d' Artois is one of the FCI (No. 28, Gr. 6, sec 1.2) recognized French breed.

Origin and History

Today's Chien d' Artois is the smaller version (up to 58 cm, 30 kg) of the extinct Grand Chien d' Artois, who, descended from a black variety of the Hubertus dog, crossed with English hunting dogs.

Description

The coat is short, sturdy, tight fit in the colors three colors dunkelfauve to hare or roof colors, with mantle or large patches; the head is usually fawn, sometimes covered with soot. The ears are set at eye level; somewhat thick, broad, with round end, almost flat and quite long; reaching to the nose approach.

Use

The Chien d' Artois is a Briquet and is mainly used to Wing Shooting: track volume -hunting dog of the hunter drifting toward the prey, and a track can resume. Previously it was also used in the pack.
