Arttu Lappi

Arttu Lappi Ville Eemeli ( born May 11, 1984 in Kuopio ) is a former Finnish ski jumper. He starts for the club of his birthplace, the Puijon Hiihtoseura. In addition to ski jumping, he studied law at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi.

Career

With the Ski Jumping Finn began in March 1995 at the age of ten years. From 1997 to 2000 he was a member of the team of the Finnish Ski Association Hopeasompa, a special handling group for young ski talents 12-16 years old.

His debut in the Continental Cup he gave on 17 November 2001 in Kuusamo, where he also was able to immediately retract points with a 27th place. In the same season he took also his first victory in the Continental Cup, when he won the competition on the large hill in the U.S. Iron Mountain on 24 February 2002. A month earlier he had been brought together with Janne Happonen, Harri Olli and Akseli Kokkonen the team Junior World Champion title at the competitions in Schonach.

Even his World Cup debut in the Finn in the 2001/2002 season in Lahti. In his debut he reached eighth place immediately a rank in the top ten. With more good results in the remaining course of the season he recommended for a starting place in the World Cup team of 2002/2003 season, in which he also launched at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in the Italian Val di Fiemme and with his team-mates Janne Ahonen, Matti Hautamäki and Tami Kiuru Team World Champion.

Only in the 2006/2007 season he made ​​the jump back to the World Cup team and won the unexpectedly due to snow carried out in a passage race on 24 November 2006 in Kuusamo. Overall, this season was a sixth overall in the Four Hills Tournament and a 15th place in the World Cup 's most successful. In addition, he performed at the ski flying in Vikersund with 204 meters to his personal best.

Also in the 2007/2008 season Lappi was used in the World Cup team, but not more regularly. For the season 2008/2009 he was removed from the World Cup team again due to lack of services.

In February 2009, the Finn moved again to a more severe injury. In a failed landing during training in Rovaniemi he suffered a ligament injury in his right knee. In March, he was operated on in the hospital Joensuu and got a five-month break from jumping prescribed. In April 2010, he finished his career. He was then elected to the Board for growth and development in Finland. He is also active in Helsinki as a lawyer.
