Artur Vieregg

Artur Vieregg (* 1884 in Berlin, † 1946 in Soviet captivity ) was a German figure skater, who started in a single run.

Vieregg was in the 1920s, third-best German figure skater behind Werner Rittberger and Paul Franke. 1920, 1921 and 1923 to 1926, he finished behind the two third place at the German Championships. Even before the First World War, he became in 1912 vice champion behind Rittberger. Vieregg took three times to Europe championships in 1922, 1924 and 1926, he came eighth. In his only World Cup in 1923, he finished in sixth and last place.

After hanging up his skating career he worked as a judge and coach. He also worked as a lecturer at the German College of Physical Education in Berlin. From 1923 to 1934 he was President of the German Motorcyclist Association (DMV) and organized numerous motorcycle races, including of the Avus, the Nürburgring and the Scots ring. From 1935 to 1939 he was "technical and sport manager " of the Berlin Sports Palace, moved in with the outbreak of war as a major in the reserve. He is the author of " The Skaters ".
