Artūras Kasputis

Artūras Kasputis ( born February 22, 1967 in Klaipėda) is a former Lithuanian and former Soviet cyclist. Today he works as a sports director.

1985 Artūras Kasputis in Stuttgart Junior World champion in the individual pursuit; in the Team Pursuit occupied the Soviet team with Kasputis third. In 1986, he won the Egypt and Morocco 1987 Tour. In the individual pursuit of amateurs at the UCI Track World Championships in Vienna in 1987 he finished third. At the Olympic Games in Seoul Kasputis won jointly with Gintautas UMARAS, Vyacheslav Ekimov, Mindaugas UMARAS and Dmitri Neljubin the gold medal in the team pursuit. In 1990 he was second in Around Berlin. In 1991, he won the Circuit du Port de Dunkerque, the Circuito Montanes and the Tour du Gevaudan Languedoc -Roussillon.

Professional Kasputis was in 1992. During his ten year career, he always went to the French team. In his first year as a pro, he won the Chrono des Herbiers and the Route du Sud and finished at the Track World Championships in Valencia in third place in the individual pursuit. He also won the youth classification of the Vuelta a España. In 1999, he won the Circuit de Lorraine. Five times started Artūras Kasputis in the Tour de France, but never was able to put forward. Two more times - 1996 and 2000 he took part in the Olympic Games in track and road disciplines, but not to win another medal.

After the end of his active cycling career Kasputis was sports director at Team ag2r La Mondiale.
