Arturo Miranda

Arturo Miranda ( born January 19, 1971 in Havana, Cuba ) is a former Cuban- Canadian diver.

Life

Miranda began as a teenager with the swimming. In 1992 he qualified as a diver for the National Team of Cuba for the Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona, but was not sent for financial reasons and because of supposedly less chance of a medal from his home state to race.

In 1995, Miranda to Toronto, where he worked as a swimming coach. He finally decided to resume his athletic career as a diver and was able to successfully enter into the Canadian national swimming scene. Arturo Miranda started during his career for the Pointe -Claire Diving Club in Montreal.

Miranda could qualify for participation in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney in the Canadian team. Due to a short-term protest because of confusion about his nationality but he finally could not go to the starting line in Australia.

In the following years, however, Miranda was able to achieve international sporting success again and again. 2005 Miranda was. During the World Swimming Championships in his hometown of Montreal Canadian eleventh in the individual from the three- meter board In synchronized diving from the three- meter board, he reached with his former partner Reuben Ross ranked 16th At the Commonwealth Games, he won in 2006 with his partner Alexandre Despatie the gold medal in three-meter synchronized diving.

With the World Swimming Championships in Melbourne he won in 2007 with Despatie synchronized diving from the three- meter board the silver medal. At the Pan American Games 2007 in Rio de Janeiro he brought with Despatie also synchronized diving from the three-meter Brette the bronze medal. In the same year Miranda and Despatie won the Canada Cup gold medal from the three- meter board.

The sporting highlight of the career of Arturo Miranda was his participation in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. With Despatie he reached there the 5th place in the synchronized diving from the three- meter board.

Miranda is a Canadian, who he met in Cuba, married and lives in Montreal. He is manager of Alexandre Despatie and Reuben Ross.
