Arturs Alberings

Arturs Alberings ( born December 26 1876jul / January 7 1877greg in Rūjiena, .. † April 26, 1934 ) was Latvian politician and Prime Minister of the party Farmers' Union of Latvia ( Latvijas Zemnieku Savieniba ).

Life

Studies, career and deputy

Alberings completed post-school studies in agronomy, from which he graduated in 1906 with a Licentiate. Subsequently, he spent several years as director of an agricultural school in Russia, before he was in 1910 director of the Agricultural Central Bureau of Riga. Later, he was one of the founders of the fraternity " Fraternitas Rusticana " at the University of Latvia.

Alberings began his political career in 1918 as a member of the Latvian People's Council, which declared Latvia's independence on 18 November 1918. There he represented the interests of the party Farmers' Union of Latvia ( Latvijas Zemnieku Savieniba ). He then in the Parliament ( Saeima ) was first as a deputy in April 1920 in the Legislative Assembly in October 1922 and first elected, which he then belonged to October 1931.

Prime Minister in 1926 and Minister

On May 7, 1926, he was the successor of Karlis Ulmanis Prime Minister, even though he had no experience in government. In his reigning until December 18, 1926 cabinet he took over on 10 September 1926, the Minister of Finance. After a little more than seven months reign he was replaced Marģers Skujenieks, the first Social Democratic Prime Minister of Latvia.

On 1 December 1928 he was appointed by Hugo Celmins Minister of Agriculture and remained in that office until March 5, 1930., The Office of the Minister of Agriculture, he took over again from March 27 to December 5, 1931 in the sixth Cabinet Ulmanis.
