Arue, French Polynesia

Arue is a municipality with 9537 inhabitants (as of August 22, 2012 ) in the northeast of Tahiti in the overseas territory of French Polynesia. It also includes some 40 kilometers away Tetiaroa Atoll. The municipality district comprises 1600 hectares. Arue located on an average altitude of 653 meters above the sea level. The highest point is located at 1305 meters.

The community is a climate of the type Af according to Köppen and Geiger ) assigned: tropical (A) vollhumid ( f), the coldest month above 18 ° C. There is equatorial climate.

The Sacré - Coeur ( Sacred Heart Church ) is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It belongs to the Roman Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Papeete Cote Est.

Henry Nott (1774-1844) was one of the first Protestant missionaries of the London Missionary Society in British Tahiti. He arrived in 1797 after Arue and was advisor to the king Pomaré II ( 1782-1821 ). On 5 March each year, the City Council Arue organized a memorial service to honor Notts at his grave.

In Arue there are numerous companies in the fields of trade and industry. The Brasserie de Tahiti fills in Arue from a mineral called Eau Royale.
