Aruküla is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Mäetaguse ( Mäetaguse vald ). It is located in Ida -Viru county (East Wierland ) in northeastern Estonia.
Description and History
The village has 31 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). It lies north of the main town Mäetaguse.
During the Soviet occupation of Estonia, the village was known for the kolkhoz Kevade ( "Spring" ).
The most famous son of the town is the Estonian chemist Leevi Mölder ( born 1933). He has made outstanding contribution to the exploration of oil shale in the possible use of biodiesel.
