Arvella Gray

Arvella Gray ( born January 28, 1906 in Somerville, Texas; † 7 September 1980 in Chicago, Illinois, real name James Dixon ) was an African-American blues singer and guitarist, who for most of his life as a street musician in Chicago, especially on the ( flea) market has the Maxwell Street played blues and gospel music.

Footage of him are to listen to a number of records samplers, including And This Is Maxwell Street, the three self-produced 45 rpm records as well as on an album (Blind Arvella Gray The Singing Drifter ) of 1972, which in 2005 was re-released as a CD. The re-release was awarded the Living Blues Award 2006.
