Arybbas (somatophylax)

Arybbas (Greek Ἀρύββας; † 331 BC), a bodyguard was ( somatophylax ) of the Macedonian king Alexander the Great. He was probably of Illyrian origin. Arybbas accompanied the king from the year 334 BC on the Asia campaign and died in the winter of 332 to 331 BC in Egypt. His place among the bodyguards was occupied by Leonnatos.
