Arzachel (crater)

Arzachel is an impact crater on the lunar front side east of Mare Nubium, south of the crater Alphonsus and north of Purbach. The crater is located near the moon center. It has a diameter of 96 km and a depth of about 3,600 m. In the crater there is a central peak of about 1,500 meters above sea level.

Inside the crater there is a chain of ruptures that Rimae Arzachel.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the Arab mathematician and astronomer Al- Zarqali.
