Arzbach

Arzbach is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Bad Ems. Arzbach is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

Arzbach located in the wester part of the forests Nassau nature park about nine kilometers southwest of Montabaur and eleven kilometers east of Koblenz. Through the town flows the Emsbach.

History

Arzbach is located on the Upper Germanic - Rhaetian Limes. On the mountain Big Head ( 422.2 m above sea level. NN ) about one kilometer south-east of the town is the Stefan Sturm, a reconstruction of a Roman watchtower in stone and wood.

Arzbach was first mentioned in 1235 as the center of the parish Augst documented and belonged until 1803 to the Electorate of Trier.
