Arzberg, Saxony

Arzberg is a municipality in the district of North Saxony, Saxony. It belongs to the administrative community Beilrode.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located in the Labe region east of the Elbe and the southern boundary of Anna Burger Heide at the border of the Land Brandenburg. The neighboring towns are Belgern - Schildau (6 km), Falkenberg / Elster (10 km) and Torgau (12 km). Federal highway 183 runs in the north of the municipality by the districts Kötten and Elster mountain.

History

The villages are mostly of Slavic origin and were usually documented in the 13th century. The main town of Arzberg in 1251 was as Arnsberk, ersterwähnt Arnßberk, which means as much as Eagle Mountain. Oldest part is Piestel which pezle as Allodium in 1220, Pietele was ersterwähnt. In 1954 the municipalities Kaucklitz, Heidehäuser, Nichtewitz, Köllitsch, Kathewitz, Adelwitz and Arzberg Arzberg merged to form community. In 1974, the municipality Triestwitz and 1993 the municipality Blumberg were connected with its districts.
