AS Gubbio 1910

The Associazione Sportiva Gubbio 1910 is an Italian football club based in Gubbio, Perugia in the Umbria region. The club was founded in 1910 and plays its home matches at the Stadio Pietro Barbetti, which seats 5,300 spectators. The AS Gubbio 1910 is currently playing in the third-class Lega Pro Prima Divisione.

History

The current club AS Gubbio 1910 under the name of Associazione Sportiva Gubbio ( short AS Gubbio) founded in 1910. This is the name of the club was closed in 1949, before it was renamed after a start-up due to a previous bankruptcy in AS Gubbio 1910. The club colors were in 1910 set to the still valid today coleurs red and blue. As a venue, the club initially took advantage of a sports field in Gubbio and had long years not own stadium. Only in 1977 the Stadio Pietro Barbetti was built, which is the home of AS Gubbio 1910 today.

After some time in the lower leagues of Italian football, mostly at the regional level, the AS Gubbio 1946 succeeded the jump to Serie B, but this was probably also influenced by the disorderly circumstances in Italian football shortly after the end of World War II. In the Serie B 1947/48 is finally finished 17th in Group C and were relegated back to the C series, where one soon ran into financial problems and was forced to declare bankruptcy after only one year. Only in 2011, ie 54 years after the last second division adventure, the AS Gubbio 1910 was playing in Serie B. This ascent was made possible by a first place in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione Girone A, at a distance of seven points ahead of second-placed Sorrento Calcio. Here Gubbio was a flawless march through the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione of within two years succeeded in the B series.
