AS Nancy

The Association Sportive Nancy Lorraine, abbreviated AS Nancy or ASNL, is a French football club from the city of Nancy in Lorraine.

History

It was founded in 1910 as a U.S. Frontières ( German: Sports Union frontier ); the name alludes to the boundary layer, in the French city of Nancy ( in German at that time also Nancy ) was the German Alsace -Lorraine. 1928 was renamed to AS Lorraine. Soon after the bankruptcy of the hitherto dominant local rivals FC Nancy ASL took its final name in (1967). The club colors are red and white. The League team plays at the Stade Marcel -Picot with a capacity of 20,090 seats.

In the season 2006/ 07, the AS had made international attention. As a League Cup winner is the team qualified for the UEFA Cup. There they first switched from Schalke 04 (0:1 and 3:1), before Nancy finished the group stage second behind Blackburn Rovers. In the Round of Shakhtar Donetsk finished by 1:1 and 1:0 further ambitions of ASN. 2008/09 ASNL again played in the UEFA Cup, but resigned from the group stage.

Club president is Jacques Rousselot; league team will again care since October 2013 by Pablo Correa, who had coached the team 2002-2011. Fanscene

In Nancy, there are four fan groups that participate in the atmosphere in the stadium.
