Asakuchi, Okayama

Asakuchi (Japanese浅 口 市, -shi) is a city in the Japanese prefecture of Okayama.

Geography

Asakuchi is located east of Fukuyama and west of Okayama on the Inland Sea.

History

The city was Asakuchi (鸭 方 町, -chō ), Konko (金光 町, -chō ) and Yorishima (寄 岛 町, -chō ) of the district Asakuchi founded on 21 March 2006 from the Association of Municipalities Kamogata.

Traffic

Asakuchi is connected via the San'yo Highway and the National Highway 2 ( to Osaka and Kitakyushu ) to the trunk road network. The town lies on the main line of San'yo Japan Railways, which runs between Kobe and Kitakyushu.
