Asamankese

Asamankese is the capital of the East Akim District in the Eastern Region of the West African country of Ghana. At the last census of the country on 26 March 2000, there were 34,855 residents in the city. Extrapolations from 1 January 2007 estimate the population to 37 349 inhabitants. Even in the census of the year 1984 23.077 inhabitants were listed. Even in 1970 the population was a mere 16,905 inhabitants.

Currently, the city is located at the 38th position in the list of the largest cities in Ghana.
