Ã…sarp

Åsarp is a place in the Swedish municipality Falköping. Åsarp is located about 21 kilometers south of the city Falköping to the state road 46 and has 598 inhabitants ( 2010). The 1376 referred to as Asathorppa place name is a composition of torp (new farmstead ) as the second element and either the genitive as ( Os), or possibly the male name Ase as the first element.

On the outskirts of Åsarp is Ekehagens forntidsby, a museum village, which is to give a vivid impression of prehistoric and early historical building and ways of life. Due to the location of the Ätran flows.

Runestone

In Åsarp is also a rune stone, called Olsbrostenen or Alvaredsstenen. He is considered one of the most remarkable rune stones of the province due to its original and unusual ornamentation of Västergötland. The stone ship of Alvared is also in place.
