Asbeke

The Asbeke is a left tributary of the Kinsbeke in Herford district in the northeast of the German Federal State of North Rhine -Westphalia.

Geography

The lake has a total length of 2.4 km. The catchment area is located in the heart of the Ravens Berger hill country west of the Werre. The Asbeke rises in Enger in the district Oldinghausen. It occurs for the first time as a manifestation of the fish ponds of the semi- Meier - yard Ebmeyer to days and ends in Herford Eickum at the Oldinghauser street in the Kinsbeke. The water flows through on its way from the source to the mouth of the districts Passenger- Oldinghausen and Herford Eickum. The creek enters only once between Herford and Passenger. Inflows are short side streams and field drains.

History

The Asbeke was used in earlier centuries as a mill stream. The former water mill of the farm Bartling ( Low German: Balker ) but was dismantled and is now in Bad Oeynhausen at the edge of the spa as part of a museum project. The former Court Bartling called quest today.

Environment

Directly behind its source flows the stream running through the Balker Busch - a mixed bag with wet meadows forest. The Asbeke heard in their entire length to the nature reserve Asbeketal or in the lower reaches to Asbeke - Kinzbachtal, with the larger part of the creek is on Engeraner area. On its way to its mouth it flows through Ebmeyers ponds, as well as Bart compact and Gieselers pond, both of which threaten to silt up.
