Lookout tower "Otto Hermann Böhm "

The Kamenac (German Aschberg ), 936 m, is a mountain in the Saxon- Czech border region with blades Thal ( district of Saxony -Georgenthal ) in the Ore Mountains, the summit of which is in the Czech Republic. On the Saxon side, it reaches a height of 917 m.

Location

At the top there is an observation tower and right next to a hostel. The Aschberg is settled on the Saxon side to the summit. Also located on the Aschberg a transmission tower. He radiates the following frequencies:

  • FM 93.7 MHz ( MDR 1 Radio Sachsen ) - Power: 0.2 kW
  • FM 98.4 MHz ( MDR Figaro ) - Power: 0.2 kW
  • FM 103.5 MHz (Vogtland Radio ) - Power: 0.05 kW

On Aschberg there is a ski slope and the ridge trail, where you can drive over to Muehlleithen Schoeneck or about Carl field to Johann George Town.

History

Together with miners and forges were also some glassmakers to the western Erzgebirge, which began here, the upcoming quartz, in several strands, among others, found himself at the Aschberg to process. The wide, until then never used forests provided them enough wood for the furnaces and the " liming ", the extraction of potash from wood charcoal.

1999, the lookout tower was "Otto Hermann Böhm " built.

View

From the tower there is a wide view of the Bohemian Erzgebirge and the Elstergebirge. To the east, the view extends to the Fichtelbergbahn and Klinovec (Wedge Mountain ), south to the Emperor and Bohemian Forest.

Way to the summit

  • From the parking lot on the B 283 in Muehlleithen leads the blue marked ridge trail, which is used in winter as Kammloipe, towards Aschberg. Not far from the border, follow the coming of dawn diamond ring red marked path to the hostel and the lookout tower (about 3 km).
  • From Silver Creek ( Stříbrná ) you can use the green marked trail to the inn " Filip ", from there the red-marked trail to the sports hotel in the center of Schwaderbach ( Bublava ). Then you follow the yellow trail up to the summit ( about 5 km).
  • From Klingenthal, a narrow driveway directly to the Aschbergplateau.
