The Ash Brook is a 4 km long left tributary of the light in the Thuringian Forest Nature Park / Thuringian Slate Mountains.

The Ash creek rises in Neuhaus am Rennweg ( district Narrow beech) close to the Rennsteig the watershed between Thuringia and Franconia.

History and mouth

On its course to the NE of Ash creek flows through the district Narrow Beech (Neuhaus am Rennweg ), turns east and follows the Neuhäuser reason to after Ash Bach ( westernmost district of the light ), ie, the gloss quarter in its extremity. Here he finally opens out into the light.

Special naming

The name Ash Bach is undoubtedly attributed to the word stems ash and Bach. In the earliest written references that date back to 1386, today's Ash creek but was called Glaseseiff. This medieval naming, in conjunction with gloss district and village washing, are notes that in the catchment area of the light actually gold mining and gold panning were operated.
