Asclepiades of Antioch

Asclepiades (also: Aslipiades or Askelpiades ) ( † about 218 ), called " the Confessor ", was at the beginning of the 3rd century Bishop of Antioch.

Eusebius of Caesarea is as the beginning of his tenure at the first year of the reign of Caracalla, so usually 212 is given as the year of the inauguration of Asclepiades. Harnack assumed with reference to another source a slightly earlier start. For the year of death can be found next to the year 218, the indication 220 Asclepiades took over the office from his predecessor Serapion. His successor was Philetus.
