ASEAN Football Federation

The ASEAN Football Federation was founded in 1984 shortly AFF is the regional football association organized in the ASEAN countries of Southeast Asia. Currently, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, East Timor, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam members.

The association was founded on January 31, 1984 by the five founding members of Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines to a cup competition for club teams to launch, but this was soon abandoned. Only in 1996 there was a revival as the Tiger Cup, now known as the ASEAN Football Championship known, was first played, a cup competition for national teams, which is held every two years.

The AFF also hosts the Dunhill Cup, a competition that takes place every two years. He was held for the first time in 1997 in Kuala Lumpur. The second edition was in 1999 in Ho Chih Minh City. In this competition to play AFF three - member teams compete against teams from other countries in East Asia. The governing body of the AFF meets every three months.

In the first edition 1996, all current members in the competition already took with the exception of East Timor, which joined after independence from Indonesia in 2004, in part.

The Secretariat of the AFF is located in Malaysia. The governing body of the AFF meets every three months.
