Ashikaga Yoshikatsu

Ashikaga Yoshikatsu (Japanese足 利 义 胜, * March 9, 1434; † August 16, 1443 ) was the seventh shogun of the Ashikaga shogunate and ruled from 1441 to 1443 in the Muromachi period of Japan.

Yoshikatsu was the son of the sixth shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori.

Yoshikatsu was at the age of 8 years Seii Taishogun, a year after his father Yoshinori of Akamatsu Mitsusuke had been murdered during the Kakitsu Rebellion of 1441.

Yoshikatsu died two years later by the fall of a horse and was succeeded by his younger brother, Ashikaga Yoshimasa in 1449 as the eighth shogun.
