Ashington
Ashington is a town in Northumberland in England and counts 27,900 inhabitants. Though the earliest record of a settlement at this point comes under the name of eater from the year 1170, the city developed only in the 1840s when William John Cavendish -Scott - Bentinck, 5th Duke of Portland, began to settle workers, that should work in his recently discovered coal mine. Since 1988 here no more coal is mined.
Ashington is located about 7 km east of Morpeth and 23 km north of Newcastle upon Tyne.
