Ashis Nandy

Ashis Nandy ( born 1937 ) is an Indian psychologist and sociologist. He is considered the co-founder of the global post- colonial studies and is Director of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in Delhi.

Nandy wrote a series of reports on the situation of human rights and actively participated in social movements against war, for alternative forms of science and technology, and for the survival of cultures.

He is a member of the Human Rights Initiative of the Commonwealth, the International Network for Cultural Alternatives to Development and the People's Union for Civil Liberties, the oldest and largest human rights organization in India.
