Ashley Cooper (racing driver)

Ashley " Coops " Cooper ( born July 11, 1980 in Sydney, † February 25, 2008 in Adelaide ) was an Australian racing driver.

Career

Cooper began his racing career in 1998. Seven years later he led the Commodore Cup for a long time and was at the end of the series in fourth place overall. 2006 Cooper Rookie of the Year of the V8 Ute Racing Series and 2007 he competed in three rounds of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series.

During a race of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series at the Adelaide Street Circuit, he came with his Holden Commodore VZ off at over 200 km / h from the road and drove into the barriers. Despite immediate medical care Cooper died two days later at the Royal Adelaide Hospital to his head injuries and internal injuries.

Ashley Cooper is survived by his wife Casey and two children.
