Ashot Anastasian

Ashot Anastassjan (Armenian Աշոտ Անաստասյան, in scientific transliteration ASOT Anastasyan; * July 16, 1964 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian chess Grandmaster. The FIDE lists him as Ashot Anastasian.

Achievements

Ashot Anastassjan was in 1983, 1985-1988 and 1990 champion of the Armenian SSR and 1992 ( shared with Artashes Minassjan ), 1994 and 2005 champion of Armenia. Other tournament victories he achieved, inter alia, 1993 in Katowice, 1999 at the Open Championship of Paris and 2005 in Abu Dhabi.

He took from 1992 to 2002 a total of six times for Armenia in chess Olympiads and culminated with the Armenian team at the Chess Olympiad in 1992 in Manila and 2002 in Bled bronze medals. He went gold in 2000 in Istanbul for his success on the fourth board.

By 2005 he reached Armenia at the World Team Championship in Beer Sheva City (Israel ) in third. Overall, he took four times for Armenia at World Team championships (1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005), with Armenia in 1997, 2001 and 2005 respectively was third.

His Elo rating is 2556 (as of October 2008).
