Asia Argento

Asia Aria Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento ( born September 20, 1975 in Rome) is an Italian actress, director, film producer, screenwriter, writer, singer and a model.

Life and career

Asia Argento is the daughter of director Dario Argento and actress Daria Nicolodi, granddaughter of the Italian film producer Salvatore Argento and great-granddaughter of the composer and music critic Alfredo Casella.

At the age of nine years, Argento had his first film and television appearances; greater attention she received for the first time in 1988 for her role in the zoo. Only after other roles in positively -reviewed films she starred in productions of her father; previous five times. For her performances she has won several awards, including twice with the Italian Film Award David di Donatello for Best Actress. The first time she received this in 1994 for her performance in Perdiamoci di vista! , Another time in 1997 for Compagna di viaggio.

Since 1994, Argento turns also as a director documentaries and short films since 1999 ( Scarlet Diva, also a screenwriter and lead actress ) and feature films. So it was at that time the youngest film director in Italy.

In addition, Argento published several short stories and her first novel in 1999 (I love you Kirk), which has been translated into several languages. In 2009 she was appointed to the jury of the 62nd International Film Festival of Cannes.

Besides her native Argento also speaks French and English. From 2000 to 2006 she was with the Italian singer Marco Castoldi colleagues. This partnership comes a daughter named Anna Lou. On August 27, 2008, she married in Arezzo filmmaker Michele Civetta.
