Asia-Pacific Network Information Centre

The Asia Pacific Network Information Centre APNIC short the relevant Regional Internet Registry (RIR ) for the Asia and the Pacific region. It serves IP addresses, AS numbers, DNS records, and other network resources.

The IP registration information can be queried in the WHOIS database at whois.apnic.net containing entries of the APNIC itself, such as TWNIC (Taiwan), KRNIC (Korea ), or JPNIC (Japan). However, the APNIC Whois Database can not be regarded as trustworthy, because the data rarely contain information about the local ISP addition, the most even has a monopoly.

The previous RIR for Australia, known under the name AUNIC was dissolved and the responsibilities were the APNIC assumed.
