Asian Athletics Championships
The Athletics Asian Championships are athletic competitions, organized by the Asian continental federation Asian Athletics Association (AAA ) in a two -year cycle. The first championships were held in 1973 in the Philippine capital Manila instead. The Championships 1977 in Tokyo, Japan, were canceled by the IAAF because of political problems, because there was no agreement on Israel's participation. As a result, the Asian championships by the IAAF was downgraded and wore from 1979 to 1989, the term Asian Track and Field Meeting ( German Asian Track and Field Meet ). Israel later became a member of the European Association European Athletic Association (EAA ) and since then takes part in the European Athletics Championships.
