Asian Film Awards

The Asian Film Awards are awards for excellence Asian filmmakers awarded as part of the Hong Kong International Film Festival. The annually since 2007 discharged celebrations are among the most influential film awards in Asia.

The first event took place on 20 March 2007 on the opening night of the 31st Hong Kong International Film festivals. A 21- member jury with representatives from all the countries of Asia will award prizes in ten categories.

In the first two years the event of filmmakers and films from South Korea was dominated, whereas won the most awards in 2009 Japan. The Japanese horror film director Kiyoshi Kurosawa won with Tokyo Sonata the awards for Best Film and for Best Screenplay.
