AsiaSat

Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (commonly known as AsiaSat ) is a commercial operator of communications satellites.

AsiaSat was founded in February 1988 and is headquartered in Hong Kong with the two main shareholders, CITIC and General Electric (since April 2007). As of 1996, the company is traded on the stock exchanges of Hong Kong and America, where the company was taken again in 2008 from the American Stock Exchange. The satellites of the company supply about 50 countries in the Asian and Pacific region with more than 300 radio and television channels ( including Luxe TV and DW- TV) and telecommunications services such as broadband Internet and the like. The ground stations are in Tai Po and Stanley. AsiaSat is a wholly owned subsidiary of Asia Satellite Telecommunications Holdings Limited, headquartered in Bermuda, which is traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. 2009, a joint venture with EchoStar was announced.
