Asmara Synagogue

The Synagogue of Asmara is located at the Haile Mariam Mammo Street in the Eritrean capital Asmara.

Built in 1906, the synagogue offered 60 - according to other sources 150 - seats and was in the 1950s, yet the center of a Jewish community of about 500 people in Asmara. It lost its religious function after the last rabbi of the Jewish community had left Eritrea with almost all still remaining faithful in the country in 1975.

The synagogue is now occasionally opened for tourists.
