ASO Chlef

Association Sportive Olympique de Chlef or short ASO Chlef (Arabic جمعية أولمبي الشلف ) is a football club from Ech Cheliff in Algeria. Play their home games from the club at the Stade Mohamed Boumezrag.

History

The club was founded in 1947. After the club from the city Ech Cheliff not become visible in sporting achievements and titles, succeeded on 21 June 2005, the first so far winning the title of the Algerian Football Cup. In the final of USM Sétif was defeated by a goal from Mohamed Messaoud in extra time 1-0. By the Cup winning ASO Chlef was allowed for the first time participate in the CAF Confederation Cup. In the first round of the Mauritanian Association withdrew the ASC Entente and the Algerians arrived as the second round. Once there, they dropped out against the Senegalese club AS Douanes Dakar. In the 2007 /08 season, the ASO Chlef was runner-up, behind the record champions JS Kabylie. By the second place, the club participated in the 2009 competition for the highest African club teams, the CAF Champions League. After the mali Saxon masters were thrown in return game 3-1 in the tournament, the club fail in the second round against the Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel.

On 21 June 2011, the then coach Meziane Ighil made ​​the first title win in the Algerian Ligue Professionnelle 1 and sent the JSM Béjaïa and the CR Belouizdad on the second and third places.
