Asp (rocket)

Asp is the name of an American sounding rocket. The Asp- rocket was launched 1955-1962 30 times also for the investigation of the explosion clouds of atomic bombs. The ASP has a payload capacity of 11 kg, a peak altitude of 110 km, a takeoff thrust of 42.00 kN, a mass of 111 kg, a diameter of 0.17 m, a length of 3.68 m and a fin span of 0, 51 m.

After 1962, the Asp- rocket was used in conjunction with other sounding rockets: With a first stage as Nike Nike Asp or with additional upper stages as ASCAMP or Asp Apache. Also Asp- rockets were tested two to four loci as boosters under the designation Boosted Asp in small numbers.
