The aspartame -acesulfame salt ( E 962 ) is a synthetic sweetener. It is a salt of the two sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame and is 350 times as sweet as sugar. In Germany, the aspartame -acesulfame salt was approved on 26 January 2005 in accordance with the additive authorization regulation.
The sweetener sold under the brand name Twin Sweet.
Properties and Determination
The aspartame -acesulfame salt forms a white, crystalline powder that easily dissolves slightly in water in ethanol. The sweetener may contain a maximum of 3% of other substances besides the two main components. For exact determination of an ethanolic solution is titrated with a standard solution of tetrabutylammonium hydroxide.
