Asparukh of Bulgaria

Asparuch, also Isperich, or ISPOR ( Bulgarian Аспарух, or Исперих, Испор; * to 641; † about 702 ) was a Khan of the First Bulgarian Empire, son of Kubrat, ruler of the Great Bulgarian Empire. He belonged to the Bulgarian dynasty rule Dulo.

Life

After the death of Khan Kubrat, the United Bulgarian Empire split. Asparuch was pushed with a part of the Proto-Bulgarians of the Khazars from the Russian steppes in today's Ukraine in the Danube Delta. After the conquest of the Byzantine Dobruja, he founded 679 in association with the Slavic tribes living in Moesia, including the Seweren, another Bulgarian Empire, which is named in the First Bulgarian Empire historical research. It is believed that a Slav- Bulgarian Empire was a Bulgarian elites who ruled over a Slavic, mostly peasant population and the remains of Roman provincial population.
