Assar Lindbeck

Carl Assar Lindbeck Eugén ( born January 26, 1930 in Umea, Sweden) is a Swedish economist and professor of international economics at the University of Stockholm. His research focus is the welfare state and the insider -outsider theory.

Life

Lindbeck went through an academic training in Stockholm and Uppsala. 1975 to 1995 he was professor at the University of Stockholm and was from 1980 to 1994 Chairman of the Committee decision to award the Prize in Economic Sciences the Bank of Sweden in memory of Alfred Nobel. Lindbeck is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
