Aces is a Belgian municipality located in the province of Flemish Brabant. It comprises the boroughs Bekkerzeel, Kobbegem, Mollem, Relegem and Zellik and is capital of the canton of aces.

The town lies on the railway line Dendermonde - Brussels - Geraardsbergen or Lokeren - Brussels - Poperinge. The station aces is frequented daily by about 110 trains.

History

Aces was first mentioned in 1015, when Count Lambert I of Leuven, located at the village Buvrinnes Hainaut (now part of Binche ) eintauschte against aces. The area was already inhabited but much earlier, probably by the very Nervians. Since the middle of the 1st century aces joined a Roman road with Bavay, the capital of Nervians. In aces himself a Roman army camp is said to have been found.

In the Carolingian period aces belonged to the district of Brabant. As of 1085/1086 was part of the aces Landgraviate Brabant under the counts of Leuven.

Because of its economically and militarily strategic location of the site was repeatedly occupied and pillaged throughout history by invading armies.

After aces was still a strong focus on agriculture in the early 20th century, continued after 1945 industrialization. 1961, Aces 108 companies with a total of 3710 employees; In 1970, there were already 1068 farms with a total of 5487 employees.

By the Belgian government reform in 1976 aces with the neighboring towns Bekkerzeel, Kobbegem, Mollem, Relegem and Zellik was joined to the municipality aces.
