Assembly of the Republic (Mozambique)

The Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique ( Portuguese: Assembleia da República ) is composed of a chamber parliament of the south-east African Republic of Mozambique since the first free elections in 1994 was between the sham elections of 1977, two years after the country's independence from Portugal, and 1994. the official name of the Mozambican Parliament National People's Assembly ( Assembleia Nacional Popular).

First President of the People's Assembly was Samora Machel, president since 2004, Eduardo Joaquim Mulémbwè.

Composition of the Assembly

The Assembly of the Republic currently has 250 members. In this figure since the last election 2009 191 members of the ruling party Frente da Libertação de Moçambique ( FRELIMO ), 51 members of the main opposition party in the country, Resistência Nacional Moçambicana ( RENAMO ), and 8 members of the newly formed immediately before the elections party Movimento Democrático de Moçambique (MDM ) represented. At least 5 % of the votes must be won nationwide to win here as a party seats.
