Associated British Picture Corporation

Associated British Picture Corporation ( ABPC ), originally British International Pictures (BIP ), was founded in 1927, British film production company, active until 1970. Founded by John Maxwell, after the British National Studios and had their premises, acquired the Elstree Studios. GDP produced in 1929 the first British sound film, Alfred Hitchcock's Blackmail ( Original: Blackmail ). Hitchcock was between 1927 and 1933 worked for GDP and turned over this period ten feature films for the production company, including Hitchcock's last silent film The Man from the Isle of Man (The Manxman ).

After the Second World War, GDP fell a distribution partnership with Warner Brothers for the U.S. market. In this context, the name was changed to Associated British Picture Corporation. 1969 ABPC was taken over by EMI and continued under the name of EMI film until 1990.
