Association for Symbolic Logic

The Association for Symbolic Logic (ASL ) is the largest international organization of logicians (mathematical logician and philosopher ). It was founded in 1936 and has its headquarters at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie in upstate New York.

Its first president was Alonzo Church. Is currently Chairman Alex J. Wilkie.

The organization publishes the magazines Bulletin of Symbolic Logic, Journal of Symbolic Logic and Review of Symbolic Logic and its own book series.

The ASL has two major conferences each year, one in the USA and one in Europe ( Logic Colloquium ). They also organized other conferences, for example, regularly with the American Mathematical Society and the American Philosophical Society.

It awards several awards annually honoring as Godel Lecturer, the awarded every three years Shoenfield Award ( for outstanding representations of logic), the Sacks Prize for outstanding theses and every five years awarded Karp Prize.
