Association Guillaume Budé

The Association Guillaume Budé is a cultural association and a learned society with a focus on the field of classical philology. It was founded in 1917 by the French philologist Maurice Croiset, Paul Mazon, Louis Bodin and Alfred Ernout with the aim to make the heritage of antiquity known to a wide audience and to publish in scientific publication series. It was named after the humanist and the first major translator of ancient texts in the French language Guillaume Budé.

The publication series include the renowned collection of Universités de France, a collection of text- critical editions of Greek and Latin writers, including French translation and explanatory notes, which now includes nearly 750 titles. Other rows are the Collection d' Études Anciennes, the Byzantine Collection, the Auteurs Latins du Moyen Âge and Les Classiques de - l' Humanisme.
