Association of Caribbean States

The Association of Caribbean States (ACS ) (Spanish: Asociación de Estados del Caribe (AEC), French: Association des États de la Caraïbe (AEC) ), the Community of Caribbean States. The ACS is a regional organization, to strengthen the cooperation Caribbean countries.

The ACS was founded on 24 June 1994 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. The official languages ​​are Spanish, English and French.

Objectives

In contrast to the Caribbean Community CARICOM, which includes more loudly ACS English-speaking part of the Caribbean, the ACS takes care of cooperation during CARICOM integration for eg stands with common market and the economy.

Focus of the ACS is the cooperation in the fields of

  • Disaster preparedness through cooperation between the civil protection organizations
  • Sustainable tourism to improve the quality of life of present and future generations
  • Trade, Development and Foreign Economic Relations in the Caribbean
  • Transport ( air and sea ) in the Caribbean to support the areas of trade and tourism

In 2008, in addition, the "Caribbean Sea Commission" ( CSC) has been launched to promote and monitor the sustainable use of the Caribbean.
