Association of Combatant Clerics

The Association of fighting clergy (Persian مجمع روحانیون مبارز Madschma' -e -e Rowhāniyūn Mobarez, abbreviation MRM }) is a company incorporated on 16 March 1988 reformist political party in Iran. As president Ali Akbar Mohtaschami was elected in August 2010.

Other common translations of the party name are also society of warring clergy, Society of fighting clerics, League of fighting clergy, League of fighting cleric or association of the fighting cleric. It is not to be confused with the Association of fighting clergy, a clerical- conservative party.

History

The Association of fighting clergy, after the collapse of the Islamic Republican Party, founded in 1988. It is an offshoot of the Association of fighting clergy, which was founded by several close confidant of Ayatollah Khomeini.

She was a more left- wing populist party in its infancy and entered for export of the Islamic Revolution of Iran in other countries as well as the state monopoly over the economy. The commitment to democracy and freedom of expression played a long time a minor role until the party turned to a course of reform. Following the resignation of Mehdi Karroubi as General Secretary August 2005, the party had temporarily no successor until several months later Mohammed Musavi Choeiniha took over the function. A high official of the organization is Mohammad Khatami, President of the Central Council of the party and former Iranian president.
