Assumption of Mary Church (Rožňava)

The Assumption Cathedral (Slovak Katedrála Nanebovzatia Panny Márie ) is the cathedral church of the Diocese of Rožňava in the eastern Slovak town Rožňava means.

At the site of the present cathedral in 1304 was a parish church. This was rebuilt in 1500 in late Gothic style. From this time a picture window, the miner saint Anna from the year 1513 with more realistic representation of the ore mining and processing is preserved in the vicinity of the city. After the founding of the Diocese of Rosenau, the parish church in 1776 for its cathedral and you designed the church in late Baroque style around ( pulpit and altar, 1779). The wall paintings depicting the life of Mary, dating from the 19th century.

The church was originally turmlos, but received in 1779 a single baroque -classical bell tower.
