Astara, Azerbaijan

Astara is a city in Azerbaijan, on the border with Iran. Across the border is the Iranian city of Astara. Astara is the capital of Astara Rayon of Azerbaijan.

The city has about 15,000 inhabitants and is an important traffic point to the south. The bus from Baku to Tehran stops in the city. In Astara there is a regional history museum in the Sh. Aliyev street.
