Bogbean ( Menyanthes trifoliata )

The aster -like ( Asterales ) are an order of flowering plant ( Magnoliopsida ). It is one of the most diverse orders of angiosperms. Fossils have been known since the Oligocene, about 29 million years before present; so it is still a relatively " young " order.

Description

There are many more herbaceous taxa as woody. There are never Stipules present. The leaves are rarely easy, often toothed or notched, sometimes shared.

The flowers are mostly fünfzählig. The petals are always fused ( Sympetalie ). The fruits are capsular fruits or achenes.

Within this order, a tendency towards the formation of Pseudanthien, radial symmetry of flowers to zygomorphen flowers to adhesions in the stamen area, and to a reduction of the fruit leaves of five to two is observed.
