Astereognosis

As Astereognosie or tactile agnosia refers to a neuropsychological disorder from the group of agnosia, which makes it impossible to recognize objects by touch. The visual recognition is not impaired in general. To help diagnose simple sensory disturbances and cognitive impairment must be excluded. Astereognosie rarely isolated, but usually with damage to the parietal association cortex of the non- language-dominant cerebral hemisphere, for example as part of a stroke before.
